This is very much a work in progress, but building off the ketlaer
project on sourceforge whoch seems to have gone quiet of late, I have
been able to get an open source player (mms) running on the Asus O'Play,
Patriot Box Office, and Seagate FAT+. My modest additions, allow it to
display mythtv recordings (with human form titles!) and their
thumbnails, as well as show some program information, and allow
playback. There is still a lot left to do, including an EPG and
scheduling recordings. This should all be possible and not too hard -
it's just a matter of free time. Playback with commercial skipping I
believe should also be possible. I have not been able yet to get an osd
or true ff/rew during playback yet. The original work by the ketlaer
project (google it and sourceforge) is quite clever and the authors have
figured out based upon the publically available asus libraries how to do
playback etc in the program mms. mms is a very modular code and uses
plugins for i/o and video display, so that made porting easier. I am
not sure if the mythfrontend can be ported as easily but I bet it would
be possible with effort. Anyway if anyone is interested I posted the
code and instructions on how to get it working here:

It's more of a cool thing to try (at least in my opinion) than the best
frontend. I am happy to offer help and take help to!

James
