[mythtv-users] export to iPod, nuvexport, & mythextras

I've been using myth for about 6 months but this is the first time I need to export to an iPhone. I found the wiki page about exporting to iPod ( http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/IPod_Export_Solution:_Myth2iPod ) and I was able to take care of everything except nuvexport. It isn't on my system from the default install - I've done a find on 3 different mythtv installs and it doesn't exist (2 mythbuntu installs that were .23 and were upgraded and one that was newly installed using apt-get this week).

I found a post from last year on this mailing list ( http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2010-November/302766.html ) saying that nuvexport is part of mythextras. I don't have that either. That post goes on to say that you can get it from SVN so I checked sourceforge and couldn't find it there either.

I did eventually find a download for nuvexport, installed it, and tried running. But I get an error that says "This version of nuvexport requires either the cvs or svn version of ffmpeg." Presumably all of ffmpeg comes from cvs or svn at some point and surely the program repository has nothing to do with the compatibility and it must be the actual version of code that matters but I don't really know how to take action on that. ffmpeg returns the following when I use the --version flag: "FFmpeg version 0.6-4:0.6-2ubuntu6.1"

I also found a plugin called mythexport that purports to do the same as the wiki guide. I got that installed and was able to fire off a job using it. The log file from the job says "ERROR: No resulting file from ffmpeg, most likely your ffmpeg failed". Again, I don't know where to go from here.

So I've tried a couple of different approaches and followed the doc that I could out there and still come up empty. Before I kill time trying random things (random different versions of ffmpeg, for example), I was hoping somebody could set me on the right path.

 - Should I follow the wiki page or use the mythexport plugin?
 - Do I need nuvexport and if so, where should I get it? (why do I not have mythextras?)
 - which version of ffmpeg should I have and where should I get it? (I'd prefer an apt-get but can compile if I need to)

Ken.
