Or if "the wrong" tuner is tied up with Live TV at the point when any 
recording begins, you may be wasting multiple physical tuners on the 
same multiplex or it may affect future placement of recordings, meaning 
that you may have recordings failing due to conflicts even hours after 
watching Live TV.

It's a terrible hack.  The best configuration is the default 
configuration you get without any of these hijinx--i.e. the 
configuration where MythTV is configured to prioritize recordings over 
Live TV.
