i'd just go with split dedicated BE and FE roles from the get-go.
i started with a single BE/FE machine about a year ago now, and last
month i split the 2 roles.
the notes i had on this setup were fairly different (and more complex)
than the split system.
if it wasn't for my desire to have the ability of wake-from-Remote &
suspend features on the FE, then it would be an out-of-the-box
install, ready to go.
