This happened to me when I rebuilt recently, and was an issue with 
mythfilldatabase being run in an odd environment by the backend. For 
some reason the grabber was incorrectly identifying it's capabilities 
(as none). It would run fine on the command line, as either root or the 
mythtv user, but break when run automatically by the backend

Instead of investigating the cause of this, I just ended up changing the 
command on the backend to 'su mythtv -c mythfilldatabase' (without quotes)

That fixed it and I never really thought much about it again
