Hmmm...  From the info presented in the link, maybe I don't need to do
all that much...

My recordings are done via Hauppauge PVR-500 and produce files that
have .mpg extensions.  Sounds like I can just cat the pieces (in the
right order, of course) and replace the original file (after renaming
it in case this isn't correct!).

OTOH, the FAQ mentions "MPEG-2 PS" -- is that not the same as what
"file xxx.mpg" returns (xxx..mpg: MPEG sequence, v2, program
multiplex)?
