Perform accurate, reliable, real time updates to the EIT stream to mark 
changes to the scheduling data.  If such data could be trusted (or for 
that matter, existed in the first place), it would actually be worth a 
developer's time to make XMLTV/SD and EIT behave nicely on the same channel.
