Well, this is not my case.  I was able to do what the scheduler should
have done simply by "Activate"ing (i.e. in mythweb) the recording on the
channel the scheduler should have chosen and everything was scheduled
with no conflicts.

And in this case, no more tuners were used to satisfy the recordings
with all conflicts resolved, which further illustrates that this is NOT
an overlap problem but simply the scheduler giving up and not trying
hard enough to find even a "good fit" (never mind "best fit").
