Are you sure about that? Since deinterlacing is performed after the
video is decoded, shouldn't resource requirements (for deinterlacing
alone) be proportional to resolution regardless of the original codec?

Obviously that's an approximation, but if decoding is being offloaded
to VDPAU, it seems like it ought to be a good one?
