[mythtv-users] unable to change channel when I've reached max number recordings on tuner

Well, the reason multirec seems different is the same reason as given in 
the last part of
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/491780#491780 .  In 
other words, it works exactly as I described in spite of the fact that 
it seems to act differently.
