Found/resolved the problem:

I was using a reference to column title in a power search rule. There 
must have been a recent change to the database schema that caused this 
to become ambiguous, so I had to change this to program.title instead.

Quite obscure; found the solution because I vaguely recognised part of 
the query as a power search rule I created long ago.
