Thanks for bringing up overscan.  It's probably something I should look at
when considering my options.  This is kind of related to how my problem
started in the first place.  I have always used the VGA connection on the
TV for my front-end because when I first set it up (a few years ago) I
couldn't get it working on the HDMI port and the Samsung manual
specifically stated it did not support computer connections on anything
other than the VGA port (one of the reasons I am boycotting Samsung).  I
decided to give it a try again recently.  It did work, but I ran up against
the overscan issue.  It's in the process of testing and swapping
connections when the HDMI port became loose.
