certainly won't disagree with that part.

I think you should have a 2nd look at how git works.
There's a difference between an "author" and a "committer".
When you merge commits, they keep the original author name

There are currently two committers on this new fork:
https://github.com/torc/
Mark Kendall
Robert McNamara

Any other names you see are, for the time being, from commits made on
MythTV that got merged in.

I'm afraid you are tad deluded :)

You'll find it's the removal of legacy code that many didn't want to
support anymore; Xv and Qt painting.
Those aren't coming back.
