[mythtv-users] Starting MythTV

   cd /etc;sudo grep mysql passwd shadow group group-

and:

   grep "user.*=" /etc/mysql/my.cnf

I changed it to mysql based on your previous comments and couldn't get
anything working and so changed it back to duncan .... so output is
currently duncan since I want to watch the hockey.

Then, as long as user = mysql, and it should,

In one window (I know you said this was empty):

   sudo tailf /var/log/mysql/error.log

Return is tailf: cannot stat "/ var/log/mysql/error.log"": No such file or
directory

And in a 2nd window:

   tailf /var/log/syslog

Hmm ... I have to hit ctrlC to stop that one as it runs forever. Here's the
output http://dl.dropbox.com/u/21358603/syslog.txt

And in a 3rd:

   sudo start mysql

Already running as duncan - the usual error would be cannot connect to MySql
database with reference to /var/run/mysqld.mysqld.sock or could not start
job.

Then post the output in your dropbox of choice.

Sorry, I don't know of a document to recommend.
