As mentioned elsewhere in the thread, this was my fault. As is my
normal practice, I copied the ebuild over to my private overlay, because
I don't like to touch originals. However in the case of mythtv, they
have private classes and such. Since those weren't available in my
private overlay, things acted badly.
I simply edited the file in mythtv_portage/Gentoo, was able to create
the digest/Manifest, and all is well.
