[mythtv-users] HLS very blocky

I've recently upgraded to 0.25 and trying HLS streaming for the first time.

The video streams are extremely blocky regardless of HD or SD source mpeg2 or h264 and regardless of streaming resolution and bitrate!

Example here from DVD to 1024x768 at 1500kbps:

looks more like 100x75 at 150kbps sound is also garbled, really just gurgling noises.

I get the same result on Mac, Linux desktop and iPad (v1 or v3).

I'm running this on MythBuntu 10.10 64bit, so it's self compiled with the mythbuntu recipe, I'm stuck on 10.10 for a while due to some unrelated tuner driver problems. I had a couple of issues compiling which may be pertinent; had to disable CrystalHD and had to upgrade libx264 from a PPA to get a new enough version. I re-compiled earlier today and the issue is still the same.
