Well, at least on my current system I'm still using the old initv
script so the backend is running as root. On F16+ it runs as user
mythtv under systemd.

Just to clarify, the files *are* being written to /etc/mythtv/3rdParts
so I don't think it's a permission problem.

Also, on the backend:6544 in the JW Player section it does say "JW
Player is installed." but the "re-install" button is still there. From
what I understand from a previous message in this thread was that the
button should disappear if it's "properly" installed?

What should change when it is? I'm assuming I should be able to stream
the recordings where currently I just see the last 10 recorded items.
I can select one from the preview thumbnails at the bottom but other
than being able to use the info button, I can't see any way to start
streaming.
