Configure your storage as...

/disk1/import/videos/Home Videos (no one actually wants to see that
underscore)
/disk1/import/music
/disk1/import/photos
/disk2/import/videos/Home Videos
/disk<n>/import/videos/Home Videos

Add each /disk<n>/import/videos as an entry in the Videos storage group
in mythtv-setup. The Video Library will automatically merge the various
folders together into a single tree, and your top level view will start
with whatever folders are underneath 'videos'. This would eliminate
what is likely the vast majority of your time, scanning through those
thousand or so directories and subdirectories of music. Note that if
you manage to get yourself into 'File Browse Mode', each defined folder
will be listed independently, and the Video Library will not merge them
together.
