The audio device you have connected doesn&#39;t support AC3/DTS, only stere=

So yes, you would hear audio because the audio test will only try stereo.<b=

Here you&#39;re trying to play AC3 which your audio device (TV) doesn&#39;t=
 support.<br>
You have configured your machine and enable AC3/DTS passthrough.<br>
Uncheck those. Keep audio as Stereo.<br>

As you&#39;re running a very recent version of ALSA, you can see what your<=
br>
audio device supports in the help description at the bottom of the<br>
screen when you move the cursor to the audio device name (here<br>
ALSA:hdmi:blah<br>

If you believe your TV does support AC3/DTS (which would be very<br>
surprising but who knows...)<br>

It could be a problem I&#39;ve seen with very recent version of ALSA if at<=
br>
any time you put your PC to sleep and turned it back on before the TV<br>
was on. The ELD value isn&#39;t read properly and ALSA disable some audio<b=
r>
options<br>
<br>
Try rebooting your PC, making sure the TV/amplifier is on before the PC reb=
oot.<br>
