[mythtv-users] Upgrade from 0.25.0 to 0.25.3 made lirc super slow just in mythfrontend menus

[I read this list, but I appreciate Cc on replies]

I can't quite figure this out.

I did a routine update of mythtv
From: Version: 2:0.25.0+fixes.20120622.73bc45e-0ubuntu0mythbuntu3
To: Version: 2:0.25.3+fixes.20121124.76d9c3e-0ubuntu0mythbuntu3

Everything seems fine, _except_ that remote commands in mythfrontend are
super slow. By that, I mean about 1 to 5 seconds between me pushing down,
and the menu going down.
Once I'm playing a video, remote commands work immediately in mythfrontend,
like before.
Also, if I use the keyboard to navigate, then the menus respond immediatly
too.

irw shows that remote commands are received right away no matter what.
mythwelcome seems to receive the 'ok' button to start mythfrontend quickly.

myth:/var/lib/dpkg/info# irw
000000008001006c 00 KEY_DOWN devinput

strace shows that mythfrontend receives the key right away:
strace -s 256 -f -p 7477 2>&1 | egrep -v '(futex|time|nanosleep)'
[pid 7497] select(17, [13 15 16], NULL, NULL, {1, 0} <unfinished ...>
[pid 7503] <... select resumed> ) = 1 (in [22], left {0, 300575})
[pid 7503] read(22, "000000008001006c 00 KEY_DOWN devinput\n", 128) = 38
[pid 7503] select(23, [22], NULL, NULL, {1, 100000} <unfinished ...>
[pid 7497] <... select resumed> ) = 0 (Timeout)
[pid 7497] select(17, [13 15 16], NULL, NULL, {1, 0} <unfinished ...>

But there is a huge delay in mythfrontend between when the key is received,
and when it's acted upon.
I tried downgrading mythfrontend back to mythtv-frontend_0.25.0+fixes.20120622
but that did not help.

I'm a bit stumped. Any idea what else I can try and what could be wrong?

Thanks,
Marc
