[mythtv-users] scheduler not trying hard enough?

Hi all,
I have brought this up before and I was told that the scheduler is
definitely not "exhaustive" in finding the best fit. I was also told
at the time that I could just manually override the scheduler when I
could find a fit that was better. While this is doable most of the
time. unfortunately this is not always the case.
Here's a case in point:
I Austin & Ally - Zaliens & Cloud Wa 51 TFC 05 20:00-20:30 3 23 23 A 23 -2
I Whitney - Sex, Lies, and Alibis 102-11 WGRZ 05 20:00-20:30 2 17 15 A 17 -2
I The Middle - Christmas Help 102-936 WWTI 05 20:00-20:30 2 16 14 A 16 -2
I Survivor: Philippines 102-77 WWNY 05 20:00-21:00 2 13 13 A 13 -2
I The X Factor 100-39 CJOH 05 20:00-22:00 2 18 18 A 18 -2
I Guys With Kids 102-11 WGRZ 05 20:30-21:00 2 16 14 A 16 -3
I The Neighbors - Merry Crap-Mas 102-936 WWTI 05 20:30-21:00 2 17 15 A 17 -3
I Chicago Fire - Leaving the Station 100-3 CIII 05 21:00-22:00 2 13 13 A 13 -3
I Rookie Blue - Class Dismissed 42 SHCASEC 05 21:00-22:00 3 23 23 A 23 -3
I Suburgatory - Krampus 9 WWTI 05 21:31-22:00 1 24 24 A 24 -3
I Nashville - Where He Leads Me 102-936 WWTI 05 22:00-23:00 2 13 13 A 13 -3
I Duck Dynasty - I'm Dreaming of a R 19 ARTSC 05 22:00-23:01 3 23 23 A 23 -2
Tuners 13-17 are actually a single digital tuner, as are 18-22. Tuners
23 and 24 are both analog tuners where 23 is the preferred one to use
since it is output from a DTA and 24 is raw analog.
As you can can see, using tuner 24 for Suburgatory @ 22:00 is less
than ideal. That could be solved quite easily by recording Chicago
Fire @ 21:00 on the already tuned "100" mplex on tuner "18-22" (for
The X Factor) rather than assigning it to the second digital tuner
(the 13-17) tuner just to tune into the same digital mplex that the
"18-22" tuner is already tuned to.
But making this kind of change is not something I am able to do
through MythWeb. I have no way of telling the scheduler to put
a given program on a different tuner.
So this is clearly a case where I would like the scheduler to be a
bit more exhaustive and try just a few more combinations to get it
right.
Or maybe there is something I am [not] doing to better tell the
scheduler that tuner 23 is less preferred than the digital tuners
and tuner 24 is less preferred than 23 so that it puts combinations
using those tuners lower on the list of combinations to try?
Thoughts?
