I believe (2) should be modified if your mpeg2 source is interlaced.
TTBOMK the OpenMAX deinterlacer is very limited (and certainly
not as good as VDPAU or some of the software filters).  Of course,
some people do not see artifacts that others find annoying, so
your mileage will vary.
