I can see how compression of the currently scattered TV spectrum would be a good thing, just because I'm a neatness person like that.

I can't help BUT de-frag my drive.

But I can also see how in our current profit driven government, how the public benefit of free TV as originally intended could be easily drowned out by the all that money lobbying cable providers. (not to mention the revolving door)
