Ideally, IMHO, in an external project that can be included into MythTV 
(i.e. GPL-compatible license and using C or C++).  And, that external 
project would--in a perfect world--have an active community of users and 
developers working with it.  (BTW, this is the same thing I would like 
to see for the UPnP implementation in MythTV--our switching from our own 
custom code that we don't have time to maintain (let alone the ability 
to sort out "if we fix this device, it breaks this other device, so..." 
issues) to an external library like Platinum UPnP.
