Are you actually planning on recording scheduled TV, or are you just going to be manually capturing from arbitrary devices?

Video and audio needs to be captured from:
VCR tapes
DVDs
Medical equipment, instruments
Channel Master D2A 
Apple Micro-DVI to Svideo adapter

This material that will be connected to the (USB's) Svideo and RCA audio.

Assuming that the USB device is associated with a channel number and there are multiple USB capture devices.
The captured content will organized by the respective (theme) channel.
