(currently using an old copy of the git repo) to 0.25 using the new
portage ebuilds.

I see that they've recently been updated to include logrotate
configurations as per the current recommendations (to handle the new
log file format):

One really nice change is the fact that the ebuilds call epatch_user.
This means that you can include patches (assuming of course they're
compatible with the current version) simply by putting them in
/etc/portage/patches/media-tv/mythtv or
/etc/portage/patches/media-tv/mythtv-0.25.2_p20120825 (for example).
I have some patches of my own to mythweb that I'm going to include
this way, and will no longer need an overlay for those...pretty cool.
