I beleve he means wherever you typed "mysql<something>" before,
you still type "mysql<something>". It still uses my.cnf (although it
can also use a directory that is included). The database is
still located in the same filesystem directory. The command
to start the database server is still the same. The library functions
are still named mysql<something> so that no source changes
are needed by applications. The only difference is what rpms
you install (where you generally replace mysql with mariadb). At
least in Fedora (perhaps other distros) the rpms obsolete the other,
so you would have to work somewhat hard to get both installed
at the same time.

At least for Fedora 19, you can choose mysql or mariadb, and
(for most people) there is no operational differences. It is likely
that eventually mysql and mariadb will have some incompatible
features/capabilities, but simple sql (as used by MythTV)
should work in any variant.

The wiki is editable by anyone. Perhaps you could update it as
you find it incorrect (in which case the answer is yes, there are
plans to revise it for current Fedora releases :-). The wiki is
only as good as the people who use and contribute to it make
it. Make it better.
