I do delete the file

When I delete a file in the FE, with the "d" key I get three options,
do not delete, delete this file, and DELETE AND ALLOW A RE-RECORD,
scrolling up to the third option gets rid of an unwanted (0 bite) file
and lets the system record it at a later time
