I've had a 290e for over a year.  Support is in kernels > 3 and results 
have been excellent.  A very recent kernel upgrade from kernel.org broke 
that support;  older kernels still work and I wouldn't expect the broken 
version to reach the main distros, but I haven't seen a fix yet.

I recall having a mechanical problem with the input adapter, when the 
centre co-ax push-in connector remained attached to the cable and a new 
cable didn't make contact.  Puzzling at the time.

Only one mux at a time per device.
