[mythtv-users] lossless cut issues with ceton infinitv

Kris and Krys,
I looked at Kris's good and bad logs. The issue is with mkvmerge's
ability to deal with the videoand or audio tracks. If it encounters what
it deemsas "corruption" it does not process the rest of the recording
correctly. I have seen this with my own HDPVR recordings. A lot ofthe
time I can see some video artefacts in the original recording when
played by the MythTV internal player. I see this far too frequently with
the PBS News but rarely with network TV programs.

Unless the mkvmerge utility is made more resilient or a substitute
cut/merge utility is found there is little I can do. Of note is that I
did try ffmpeg as a substitute but it was no better than mkvmerge and in
some cases inferior at cut/merge processing.

Once I even considered having an option to create Avidemux project files
so that the AvidemuxCLI appcould do the cuts but it cannot handle 1080i
recordings as well as mkvmerge at this time.

Kris thanks for your input with this issue.

Doug
