machines are connected via wired ethernet. Everything from the backend
works fine (with exception of a little motion blur, but that is a separate
issue), but I am having problems when using the XMBC mythTV plugin. I
wasn't sure if there was something I could change in mythtv to alleviate
the issues on the frontend.
> I have 2 types of frontends, the first is a windows 8 machine that I just
bought. Everything works well for a while, but the video will randomly
buffer about every 8 minutes or so, and it takes around 20 seconds to
buffer, which is very annoying in the middle of a show. I should also
mention I am playing recordings that haven't been transcoded, so they are
mpeg2 via a Ceton Infinitv.
> The other frontend is a Raspberry Pi running openElec. Before I purchased
it I was reading that it might be a little slow, but video playback should
be fine, but I have not experienced this. When the video does play, the
picture looks good, however it buffers constantly. When watching Live TV,
it will pause for like 1 second, then start again. This happens like 15
times per minute, which is unwatchable. I thought this might have something
to do with it being live TV, so I tried a recording, and it doesn't do
exactly the same thing, but it's similar. It will do a full buffer, where
it takes like 10 seconds, every couple of minutes. I tried overclocking the
pi, but it didn't help. I also was SSHd in viewing top while a video was
playing, and the CPU usage was only about 50%, so I don't think
overclocking anymore will help. I can live with the menus and guide being
slow, but not buffering in liveTV and recording playback. I am attempting
to replace my cable boxes, so until I solve this I will still be renting.

If so, how? Any help is appreciated.

Hi, I am using the xbian distro 1.0 alpha 4, codec license for mpeg2, cmyth
xbmc pvr plugin.

I overclocked my pi to 900Mhz. Playback is smooth. I also know that while
the plugin is initializing and loading recordings and channels everything
is slow, so you need to just wait.

Other than that, the stream should be watching, even live TV with no
buffering.
