The patch is more for making sure everything is initialised correctly.
I saw you mentioned some time ago about problems getting into the menu
on some DVDs. That patch *should* help with those sorts of issues. If
a DVD has some sort of copy-protection that means playback only works if
you follow all the navigation instructions properly, that patch may well
help there too as that is basically what it fixes.
I do have a DVD here where video playback freezes for a second or two at
or around chapter points. That DVD definitely has this sort of
copy-protection but I haven't had chance to investigate whether the
freezing is due to copy-protection or something else.
