in short: yes it should.
the whole download of the segments and streaming list yes as it's done
by the system download..
However, and I hadn't thought about that scenario. To check if a
stream is a HLS one, I download the first 2kB using the FFmpeg utility
routines..
I need to check how to enable proxy there and if it too read the
http_proxy environement variable
Same in mythtv-setup
