Except that here in Oz, this rarely works.

For example, we have various shows showing on ABC channels, they are
then repeated on the same multiplex at different time on ABC2 or ABC3.

No channels provide exactly the same metadata from one episode to the
next (including the repeat)

so only the "record on this channel" effectively works. Otherwise you
end up with plenty of recordings of the same show that you can't
really tell appart.

That's a very wild generalisation. And I believe inaccurate.
User, like myself, I believe understand the rule and how they work
pretty well. Yet, a lot of the usage of mythtv comes with trial &
error.
And record on this channel, is the only thing (in my case, and I'm
sure many others) that works.

So having a filter to restrict the recordings to a particular channel is a must.
