For starters, the log from "mythfrontend -v playback", ideally the complete
log up to (or past) the point where playback goes normally.  I would look
for interesting log output during that playback startup delay.

If that is not revealing enough, I would try "mythfrontend -v playback
--loglevel debug", or the maximum level of "mythfrontend -v all,norefcount
--loglevel debug".
