Can you confirm that the link also drops on the switch side?  I have 
never seen the LEDs go out on an active ethernet port but there is a 
first time for everything.

If the link is down on the switch side then there is no way to wake the 
attached system.  I would focus on the BIOS settings to see if you can 
find a way to keep the ethernet port on in suspend mode.  There are 
usually settings like this somewhere in the BIOS.
