When you do an lspci you should have a line like "Unknown device xxxxx:xxxxx" which proves that your machine sees something in that slot. Then you have to tell the kernel what to do with the device. The guy at the link copied the driver for a similar card and tweaked the device entry to match the ID presented by the kWorld. The chips on the card are all understood and supported but there seemed to be something funky about how they talked to each other in the kWorld instance. You'd have to contact the guy directly for the conclusion.

This is the sort of thing a kernel developer could crank out in 40 minutes but for mere mortals... after a few hours you may consider contacting the person earlier who has an extra of a supported card.

The other thing is your kernel must be at least the minimum supported version but that was like 2.6.18 which was a long time ago so you should be good there.
