The database cannot be upgraded from 0.20 to 0.25 in a single pass.
AFAIK, you will have to upgrade step by step.
I went from 0.21 (Ubuntu 8.04) to 0.23 (Ubuntu 10.04) first, and then
from 0.23 to 0.25 (still on Ubuntu 10.04). My goal is 0.26 on Ubuntu 12.04.
I did this with a parallel install on my backend, before moving it to
new hardware (but keeping the same hostname). I would recommend this
way, as you always have your "old" system running if something goes wrong.
And most of all, I would recommend using the backup and restore script
available at www.mythtv.org. The work like a charm.
