I think all you need to do is assign static IP addresses to both your 
mythbackend & the TV, they do not need to be link local. They should be 
on the same subnet - EG 192.168.0.10 & 192.168.0.20 with subnet mask 
255.255.255.0

OR you could install a DHCP server on the mythbackend and let your TV 
get an IP from there.
