Hi;

Is: ~mythtv/.mythtv/tmp/remotethemes writable? And if there is a file
named: themes.zip in that directory, it it writable?

If that's not the problem, I'd suggest running the backend with
-v file  and --loglevel debug set. The logs may have additional
information from the DownloadManager.
