It doesn't necessarily comes from him, it wouldn't be the first time a 
spam/virus comes from a forged address...

According to the received lines (and more specifically the ones added by 
alcor.mythtv.org which are the only ones we can start trusting) It does 
come from Hotmail's server so maybe Hotmail's servers have a new 
vulnerability (they used to have some in their WebDAV stuff IIRC) that 
was exploited to send this...
