My understanding was that this behavior was configurable.  I tested
this tonight.  On my system both mythtranscode and the backend are
indeed logging to /var/log/mythtv/mythlogserver.log.  All of my old
logs with individual processes have mod times that pre-date November
11, 2012.

This is the default behavior for the Debian Multimedia repository
mythtv packages.
