I received some advice from my original post (see September 11, 2013 3:17:17 PM CDT) from both Gary Buhrmaster and John M. Post.

What I did not know was the correct command line to use to copy and save the information in the correct directory.
I've since received that advice, used it, and...
...it still does not work.

I'm wondering if I may have placed the file in the wrong sub directory.

Here's what I did:
   cd /usr/local/lib/firmware
   sudo wget http://www.steventoth.net/linux/hvr22xx/firmwares/4019072/NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw

I then restarted the machine, and no change.
When I entered in the "dmesg | grep saa7164" command, it came up with the same text as before:

I then thought, hey, maybe I'm down the wrong branch of the various possible sub directories...
[Again, typos are mine; below is not a copy and paste:]

   XXXX-mythtv:~$ cd /usr/local/lib/firmware
   XXXX-mythtv:/usr/local/lib/firmware$ dir
   NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw
   XXXX-mythtv:/usr/local/lib/firmware$ _

Ok, so I do have the file, but...

*Is it placed in the correct SUB-directory????
