First go to Setup on your Mythbackend and confirm your database IP 
address and password (1st page). The IP address should be the same as 
the physical IP address of your backend on your network. If it is 
something else, change it. Then make sure that your OpenELEC is using 
those IP and password values to connect. Once you are sure your Open 
ELEC is looking in the right place you should be ok.

Incidentally, it wouldn't hurt to assign a static IP address to your 
MythTV backend
