Do you have to call any script to adjust the color settings like this 
(in my LiveTV and Record events):
v4l2-ctl --verbose -d /dev/video-hdpvr --set-ctrl brightness=0x80 
--set-ctrl contrast=0x40 --set-ctrl hue=0xf --set-ctrl saturation=0x40 
--set-ctrl sharpness=0x80

Are you using the lirc_zilog IR blaster device? (my current challenge)

My HD-PVR is using current firmware.
