Actually, the 'beta' is free, as long as you periodically install the
newest version within the (30 day?) timeout.

I found it so useful, I just went ahead and purchased it.

And yes, the free version will (The last time I checked) handle both
DVDs and BD. 

As a side note, an average rip of a BD for me is around 20GB, compared
to 5GB for a DVD.
