No, (like all good *nix applications) MythTV doesn't set permissions on
recording files it creates. You do.

(MythTV does ensure preview files have group write permission,
regardless of the umask in the running environment, however, due to
rampant misconfiguration of MythTV and MythWeb years ago and the fact
that it was easier to throw in an ugly workaround for user
misconfiguration than to teach users how *nix and file system
permissions work.)
