If I understand you correctly, I would need to buy a HDHR prime or similar
which holds three cable cards. Currently I have a need for recording 4 tv
shows at the same time which means I need three tuners since two shows are
on the same transponder (worst case would be four tuners). So with this
info in mind... if I were to go the route of the cable card, I would only
be able to record three tv shows at any given time and I would have the
monthly rental fee of one cable card.
As far as the costs of the antenna vs the HDHR prime, they will be about
the same. The best antenna I found so far is $115 delivered but will need
some accessories so when it is all said and done it will be about $150
which is what the HDHR prime is advertised for on their site.
