You will lose out on HD by using the Composite connector obviously -
other than that, yes - you can record from any of the 3 inputs on it.
They all show up in mythtv to add a video source to when you set it
up.  I would just get a cable box with Component out from the provider
(they all have them).  I (until recently) had the original Mitsubishi
65" Projection that only had Component in (pre-HDMI), so I use that as
an excuse every time.
