[mythtv-users] Myth frontend on SteamOS with Suse 13.1 backend

All of my MythTV frontend systems (6) currently run OpenSuse 13.1 and
MythTV 0.27, all working fine.
However, my son now has SteamOS installed on his machine for gaming and
I would like to run Myth frontend on that OS instead of using a second
machine or dual-boot into OpenSuse to get MythTV.
Has anyone had experience of installing MythTV on SteamOS, and if so
could you give me any guidance? Secondly, what about integrating two
different distributions for backend / frontend; would I be best just to
compile from source to ensure version match?
I'm completely new to Debian based distributions, so again, any pointers
on compiling from source etc. would be appreciated for the SteamOS side.
Cheers
Gordon
